My name is Ryan Bowden and I graduated with a BFA in Visual Effects from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). I grew up in a east of Atlanta, Georgia in a small town called Covington. At a young age, I knew that I wasn't the most artistic person in my family. My mother could draw very well and my older brother could also draw well. I was into watching movies and breaking them down at a young age. It was when I was in middle school that my fascination with computers came in. I would sit at the computer and mess around in some free trial graphic programs such as Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. I attended a small college in Tifton, Georgia called Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC). When I started ABAC, I knew that I wanted to do something with computers. After talking to some people, Information Technology seemed to fit in to what I wanted to do. It wasn't until I was at my second (final) year at ABAC that I decided that I wanted to persue a career in Visual Effects. I did not have previous 3D experience going into SCAD, so the experience I have gained thus far has been valuable.

During my time at SCAD, I did not know what I wanted to do pertaining to Visual Effects. All I knew is that I wanted to make stuff look cool and maybe blow up some stuff in the process. It wasn't until my Junior year, after taking a Houdini course, that I wanted to become an effects artist. From then on, I started to create my own effects and working on some collaborative projects with some fellow students.
